I find pleasure in creating imagery and mood - seductive, vulnerable and authentic. I always feel in motion when writing or composing - nostalgic spaces, spaces I’ve only just discovered, private moments, a love letter to all things romantic and dear in my life. What is on your mind tonight?
Something old, something new, never borrowed, but sometimes a little blue - why “My stuffed animals in the closet.”… they are very sweet, with marks of old, never abandoned, but most definitely a little blue. Sometimes I do not think they like being tucked away in the closet, they rather come out and play. My companions during childhood to whom I would tell all my secrets. They always listened, they have earned some scars and boo-boos over time, but I would never leave them behind.
Elaborate, what do you write?
I write poetry and short scenes that cling to my heart. They are very close to me, I feel all I need to say. A way to indulge my intimate thoughts. Every part of me is in my words, photographs. Many of my writing pieces are connected, and each stand alone, too… a dark hallway from long ago to sunlit shadows kissed, anywhere from city to sprawling landscape, and into the middle of nowhere. Maybe alongside a cat or two.
Are your photos original?
Yes. I use iPhone and Nikon Z30 with a 16-50mm lens. I edit with iPhoto app, GIMP, Affinity and Photoshop to create art that relates to my writings and mood.
What is your personal history with music?
I am classically trained from a very young age in piano, violin, composition. A Baltimore City native, I’ve studied at The Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University and various universities throughout life. I now only play for my own joy, returning to a love that once was my entire life. I feel a very intimate tie to music and sounds, an impulse towards, provocative for me. I play and listen to many genres around the world, and all the sounds that make me think of home. A vast catalog the world offers… all make me feel things, with the minor keys inspiring my writing thoughts the most.
Loves?
I am vegan. It is a very certain thing in my life. Animals, too, are living beings and very precious to this earth. I wish more humans to understand and to be kind to all, that would make me most happy. I adore cinema, things that make me laugh, and a proper woven mystery and psychological thriller.
