Act 1: Under shade.
Before leaving you too soon,
Only a moment,
Sit with me, close,
To tell you how much,
I love you inside.
To watch the quietest day,
Seen in its vibrancy,
Silhouetted by the scent of,
Your cologne baking in the sun,
Under shade.
I will kiss your warmth goodbye, but,
Stay in love,
Inside.
Remember me, though,
I am far away,
You are with me inside,
Cocooned in my heart, a moment,
Your lips are mine,
Under shade.
Act 2: Old-fashioned.
Following the line of your footsteps, your musk scent trails close behind you. Your fingers covering my fingertips, we fitting in this space empty and to ourselves.
In a quiet corner you order an Old-fashioned, just like in those old black & whites.
“I love you,” you always remind me.
Easy warmth.
Your smile and its easy warmth. You say, “Are you ready…” and, “Follow me, you’re about to fall in love.”
I am. Each day throughout the year I kiss you to thank you for being born, for being here. I hold your hand, lacing it into mine, between each finger you shaping that space to expand around the bones and bends. Within each open and closed space between, you choosing me to be yours.
Indigo glows.
Indigo glows in the summer,
When,
Sky,
Falls,
To touch,
I,
Anticipate,
You.
I walk in the open air towards you, only light surrounding the iridescent. An Ambanja panther chameleon, you. Blending in city ports, lights and all sapphire shades of night. I don’t want you.
I,
Grip,
To,
You.
Sunshine.
Husband, I love you, like, sunshine and the warmth it gives. Softly piercing through the inside to the outer part of me, warming the fair hairs on my forearm and wrist. It makes me close my eyes and sense each one of my lashes. I think about how happy it makes me to be here, in this caress brushing across my first three layers of skin. The heat, a quick tingle and it turns me rosy on my cheeks and nose. I straight, steady glow from within. You are illuminating, I can see you through my dark space, you with a kind brightness that makes rain go away. No more clouds, only dew drops and rays, too gently and carefully massaging between each of my toes, my fingertips, and every naked part exposed. If you held me long enough, I think I could fade away into the speed of atmosphere. I like you to stay not far from me, your breath on that place between my earlobe, my nape and my face. I prefer this sensation above all, you all around me, warm and found.
Tangerine sublime.
Tangerine tides,
I lie down,
Surrounded by,
The morning within the quiet of a wave and its crash. You in the room a stroll back, sleeping, beautifully. Rest, my Prince. Last night, before orange rose, you decide to get me drunk on strawberry wine, licking whip cream off key lime pie, holding me down by the weight of yourself. Those arms… those eyes.
Towards the end of the hall.
My unfurl in sun,
Your stem, a jagged thick thorn.
Rose red, open full.
Is heat this way.
Along incandescence’s path,
You’re chasing my bare back,
You catch up to me.
With roses leading the way…
You’re compelling me further,
Into the shadow’s umbra,
Where the sun hits last in the day.
You cannot wait.
Your smile in the summer.
You hold my left hand across the pink weeds, I run my right hand through each one in the breeze, the grass brushing across my knees. In all of the vast I see, you are too much for me.
I follow you anyway through each season to see your smile in the summer. Before the sunlight blinds me and you leave for the South. Following you, you look back at me, leading me between greens, yellow and brown plateaus, where the blues meet. Your fingers wrap gently around my wrist, your palm holding my palm and fingers in place. Your musk drifting, I breathe you in with air touching our bare limbs.
